As a way to cope with yesterday’s travel challenges, we decided that today would be a stay-at-home game-playing day. And it hit the spot.
As soon as everybody finished breakfast, a game of Mexican Train Dominos got started on our dinner / game table. During game play, we conducted the bare minimum of business, which was to plan the daily activities for the rest of the week.
During Scarlett’s morning nap, Ellery had asked the group if anybody wanted to play Hide and Go Seek, but we told her we couldn’t do that because it would be “too loud”. During a particularly boisterous part of our Mexican Train Dominos, we laughed at how funny that was.
The day was spent playing games (Dominos, Rummikub and Secret Hitler), playing in the river, entertaining Scarlett, and being entertained by Scarlett.
PK’s game is rummikub. She plays it hours every day and this trip is the first time that most of the family has learned how to play.
Dinner was steak & baked potatos orchestrated by Erin. Each of her meals is better than the last!
After dinner, Ellery went around the table and gave back rubs (until you cried Uncle).
We ended the night with three rounds of Secret Hitler. Ellery LOVES to play this game, and a good time was had by all.
